The role
As a Head of Accounting, you will oversee financial data set, prepare financial reports, participate in audits, manage schedules and guidelines, and devise strategies to improve systems and services.

This is what you will do:

• Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation.
• Lead and take responsibility for the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
• Lead and take responsibility for strategic financial projects including synergistic integration with other European subsidiaries.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions.
• Actively review and advise on financial and accounting processes.
• Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Interact with budget holders or other stakeholders at all levels for timely, efficient and accurate month-end closure and provide management report analysis support.

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

• 10 years+ of accounting/auditing experience, R&D accounting or auditing experience is a MUST
• Good knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP. USGAAP and K3 knowledge.
• Experience on managing Accounting share service center is a plus.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Highly-effective team management.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Background in Fintech and EV is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance/business or relevant is required.
• Open minded and eagerness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
