The role
As a Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing and reporting of payroll across Europe. You will serve as HR’s payroll specialist, ensuring compliance with wage tax requirements and internal benefit policies.

This role bridges the gap between our outsourced HRSSC and the Finance teams. You will manage the end‑to‑end monthly payroll cycle, reconcile payroll‑related GL accounts, and act as the primary point of contact for all payroll audits and reporting related to headcount and consultant costs.

This is what you will do

Full-Cycle Processing:

• Control end-to-end monthly payroll, including commissions, bonuses, and deductions.

• GL Reconciliation: Prepare and post payroll journal entries; reconcile payroll‑related balance sheet accounts (e.g., accrued wages, taxes, pensions, and related insurances).

Tax Compliance:

• Ensure accurate withholding and filing of taxes. Manage year‑end reporting across our EU entities.

• Expenses & Travel: Ensure wage tax compliance for all expense claims and travel allowances paid.

Audit Management:

• Act as the lead for internal and external payroll audits.

Reporting:

• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual labor cost reports for management and HQ to assist with budgeting and forecasting.

Process Improvement:

• Identify and implement automation or workflow enhancements to increase efficiency.
  

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:

• 3–5 years of dedicated payroll or general accounting experience with a strong payroll focus.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification (such as VPS Vakopleiding Payroll Services or PDL – Praktijkdiploma Loonadministratie) is required.

• Proficiency with ERP platforms (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel reporting skills.

• Strong knowledge of labor and payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.

• Proven understanding of differences across the EU regarding tax regulations, social security, and benefits administration. Global mobility knowledge is a plus.
